Round 4 - Event Report

10 June 2026

Mallory Park saw the return of Trackday Trophy after 16 years on Saturday 6th of June for Round 4 of the 2026 season.

Qualifying:

Qualifying honours went to Apple Race Team after setting the benchmark pace in the Renault Clio, with BROMOCO’s Honda Civic, and the Renault Clio of Dean Hyde completing the top three.

Class C went to Wayne Cockerill in the Aindale Racing Toyota Celica over the FJ Racing Honda Civic with a gap of just 0.403s, and the Team Air Supply Clio of George Wright rounding out the top three in class.

For Class D, the leaders Harry Eyre / Tim Steel in the Brake Dancer Racing Mazda RX-8 set an impressive time that placed them just 0.288s off Wayne Cockerill’s Class C leading time. This was followed by the Alister Esam BC Cars Motorsport MX-5 second in class and the STAL Powered for Racing MX-5 at the hands of Steven Orant placing third in class.

Race:

When the lights went out Hyde made an excellent start and quickly established himself at the head of the field, ahead of the #155 Fiesta of Tommy Valentine, and the #46 Renault Clio of George Wright, up from ninth on the grid. As the opening laps unfolded, Hyde was able to maintain the lead over the chasing pack.

Behind the leaders, several teams remained firmly in contention. #1 BROMOCO kept within striking distance throughout the opening stint, while Team Air Supply and Burton Power Racing were also prominent inside the leading group.

The mandatory pit-stop window reshaped the order as differing strategies came into play. Several teams enjoyed brief spells at the front as the field cycled through its stops, but once the pit sequence had been completed it was Hyde who emerged with the advantage.

Despite trailing the leaders entering the closing stages, BROMOCO continued to apply pressure and steadily reduced the gap, producing a series of quick laps to move within striking distance as the race approached its conclusion.

The decisive moment arrived on lap 26 when BROMOCO completed the move for the lead. Having worked hard to close the gap, the team then focused on managing its advantage over the remaining laps.

At the chequered flag, it was BROMOCO that secured victory, by 4.150 seconds. For Hyde, second place represented a strong result having spent much of the race at the front, while George Wright produced a fantastic drive in the #46 Team Air Supply Renault Clio to finish third overall and claim Class C honours.

The Class B Ford ST180 of Tommy Valentine came home fourth overall after another competitive performance and then Andy Burton in the #63 Burton Power Racing Focus rounded out the top five after a consistently strong race and claimed Class D glory.

For the remainder of the Class C standings, David Murfitt guided the #88 NJM Racing Ford Fiesta to second in class, and sixth overall. Steven Gilbert and Matt Baldacci rounded out the Class C podium in the #77 Racing Renault Clio 182, finishing seventh overall after a strong showing throughout the race.

Class D saw a close finish between #50 Brake Dancer Racing securing second in class and eighth overall with Harry Eyre and Tim Steel behind the wheel, while Alister Esam BC Cars Motorsport completed the Class D podium in its Mazda MX-5 Mk3, finishing ninth overall only 0.958 seconds behind after 40 minutes of action.

Mallory Park produced close and competitive racing, with the battle for victory remaining undecided until the closing stages, further cementing the Trackday Trophy's place as a competitive and accessible series across all classes!

The Fastest Lap of the Trackday Trophy race went to the winning BROMOCO Honda Civic Type R with a 1:00.521 producing an average speed of 80.30 mph.

Trackday Trophy returns for Round 5 on Saturday 1st of August at the picturesque Anglesey Coastal Circuit!
