2024 Trackday Trophy Season Preview

2024 Trackday Trophy Season Preview

20 March 2024

There’s just over a month until the return of Trackday Trophy!

On April 21st competitors will finally take to the circuit once more, marking the end of the Winter break and the first round of the 2024 season. The tremendous Donington Park will welcome three classes of production and production-based saloon, hatchback and sports cars for their first shot at the 2024 Trackday Trophy podiums.

The racing throughout the entire field was thrilling last year, resulting in a wide array of names earning trophies. There’s nothing to suggest the racing won’t be as competitive this year either, further fueling the anticipation for the series’ return.

Following the season opener at Donington Park, Trackday Trophy will visit some of the finest circuits the UK has to offer. Brands Hatch Grand Prix features, offering Trackday Trophy competitors a rare opportunity to race on one of motorsport’s most iconic circuits. Cadwell Park is a favourite for a number within the paddock and the Lincolnshire Wolds circuit returns to the calendar this year, as well as series stalwarts Snetterton 300 and Brands Hatch Indy. A series debut visit to Lydden Hill is an exciting addition, as is the sixth round of the season – Circuito De Navarra in Spain! This is the first-ever time that Trackday Trophy has hosted a European round and it has caused a definite stir amongst the series faithful, as a relatively cost-effective route to racing on the Continent. For many, it’ll be extra special as it’ll be the first time they’ve raced outside of the UK. All the ingredients are in place for an instant classic!

While the racing is important, Trackday Trophy has always placed an emphasis on the importance of having fun and the series continues to promote a positive, feel-good paddock. Teams often help each other out where they can to ensure (as much as possible) that all cars make it to the grid. This factor continues to make Trackday Trophy a fantastic platform to take your first steps into the world of racing and it’s great to see that a strong mixture of new names and series veterans have registered for the 2024 season. The series’ proven and popular weekend format remains in place for the upcoming season, with a 25-minute qualifying session proceeding a 45-minute race on the same day. This helps reduce overnight costs, while the mandatory pit-stop in each race means that two driver teams can still be facilitated.

Unique Racing have won the season opener the last two seasons. Will it be three-in-a-row at Donington Park this year, or will we see a different team take to the top step?
