Round Five Preview

26 July 2023

Incredibly, we’re already fast approaching the penultimate round of the 2023 eBay MSVT Trackday Trophy season. Both on and off the track, it’s been an excellent year for the series and there’s much excitement surrounding our return to Oulton Park on August 12.

Following a one year absence from the eBay MSVT Trackday Trophy calendar, the Cheshire circuit is back and ready for a bumper grid of production-based Saloon, Hatchback and Sports cars to vie for the podium places across one of the UK’s most picturesque sporting venues.

Oulton Park offers plenty to challenge and thrill both new and experienced competitors. While it has forged a reputation as an unforgiving circuit, it delivers immensely in both driver experience and satisfaction. Many will be thrilled and challenged by the fast flowing section of Cascades and Island Bend, or equally the exceptionally quick blind crest section of Clay Hill and Water Tower. The banked Shell Oils Corner offers a unique test for drivers, while there’s two tricky chicanes to contend with too. Oulton Park has got it all!

In our last visit to Cheshire in 2021, it was the Honda Integra of Gay/Tester who triumphed overall. Dan Abbitt finished second that day, while Dave Connell secured a hugely impressive third place finish overall, despite being in a Class D car! The opening four races this year have continuously demonstrated just how competitive eBay MSVT Trackday Trophy is and we fully expect the battle for the class podium places to be just as close-fought this time out.

The previous round at Donington Park produced the first repeat eBay MSVT Trackday Trophy winner of the 2023 season. Colin Tester, the victor last time eBay MSVT Trackday Trophy visited Oulton Park, sealed his second win of the year alongside teammate Ronan Quinn. It was an impressive performance by the duo, who saw off stern competition from Michael Rawlings (2nd) and Ben Grewcock (3rd) to take the top step of the class B podium. Elsewhere, two teams secured their first class victories of the year in C and D, with Aidan Hills and Lundy/Lundy respectively.

Find out how the teams did it with our race report here.

Who will take to the top steps in our penultimate race of the 2023 season? Let’s find out!
