A closer look at the Brands Hatch GP circuit...

20 July 2022

Brands Hatch GP circuit is widely regarded as one of the world’s most iconic sporting venues, boasting an unrivalled history dating back to 1926 - when grass track racing took place on an anti-clockwise layout.

Countless legendary competitors have competed and won at the circuit over the decades, including: Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Barry Sheene, Jack Brabham, Ayrton Senna, Jenson Button, Carl Fogarty and Lewis Hamilton. Nigel Mansell famously claimed his first Grand Prix victory at the Kent circuit, also winning the final F1 World Championship race to be held at Brands Hatch in 1986.

Brands Hatch's unique combination of dips, cambers, fearsome corners and hills mean that it is still one of the world's favourite racing circuits, and one that continues to go from strength to strength. The circuit’s 2022 calendar includes visits from a variety of highly reputable championships on both two and four wheels, such as: British Touring Cars, British Superbikes, NASCAR Whelan Euro Series and GT World Challenge.

It remains held in the highest regard by both motorsport fans and drivers alike, with current British F1 starlet Lando Norris recently referring to Brands Hatch as ‘his favourite non-current F1 track’. Norris remarked that the circuit offers ‘a good challenge’, with the ‘unique’ Turn One being ‘pretty awesome’. In addition, 2022 saw MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi take to Brands GP for the first-ever time and the Italian megastar had nothing but positive comments to share, remarking: ‘It's fantastic, it's difficult, especially because you have a lot of places where it's blind so you need to do some kilometres to understand the right way. But the track is in fantastic condition with the new asphalt and everything and also the layout is very interesting, it's very old style track!’

The venue for the next round of Trackday Trophy ensures that there’s plenty for competitors to be excited about! Expect a full event preview to be released on our website in the near future.
